WHAT IS GASLIGHTING

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person or group makes someone question their own reality, memory, or perceptions. It is often used to gain power and control over another person by making them doubt themselves.

Some common signs of gaslighting include:

  • Denying reality: The gaslighter insists something didn’t happen when it did.
  • Twisting facts: They distort or fabricate events to make you question your memory.
  • Blaming the victim: They make you feel responsible for their harmful behavior.
  • Minimizing feelings: They dismiss your emotions as overreactions or irrational.
  • Isolating the victim: They create doubt about who you can trust, often making you dependent on them for "truth."

Gaslighting can happen in relationships, at work, in politics, or in any social setting. It can be subtle or extreme, but its goal is to make the victim feel confused and powerless.
